Tabular mining with intersecting faults

This example demonstrates a tabular mining example. Two faults intersect the one another and the mining. 

The model was constructed with 247 DD (displacement discontinuity) elements to describe the mining. 1786 DD elements were used to describe the two faults as the exact location and shape was important in this analysis. From this data, Map3D generated 2059 surfaces and subsequently discretized these into 2449 boundary elements, thus requiring 7347 degrees of freedom. Due to efficient lumping, the matrix size required for this analysis was only 72 MBytes.

In this figure, slip on the faults can be observed to be confined to a few areas adjacent to the mining.
